Hi, here’s a little bit about me…
Jeremy Morton from Michigan. Now living in South Florida.
My dad and I made our first Dagwood sandwich together on a cold afternoon in Southfield, near Detroit, Michigan. It’s a town filled with blue-collar middle class families. It’s the kind’a of place sandwiches are real popular, even iconic like the famous Dagwood.
Everyone in Southfield, Michigan puts their own spin on their family Dagwood. Dad taught me to load it all up! Lots of different meats, cheeses, mayo, veggies, and our secret sauce. I got good at dogwoods. Really good! The neighborhood didn’t call my sandwiches dogwoods anymore. My version went ultimate! Here my creations were known as the famous “Jeremy Sandwich.”
No dog for you. Sad but true. Mom and dad weren’t animal lovers, except as carnivores. With no dog to share my scraps with I became a chubby kid.
Food, Love, Family, Tradition.
It’s all one and the same thing in my family. Like one big ball of twine. My parents got their Jewish family values from Bubby and Zaddy. If you love your family you automatically loved food.
I love to cook about as much as I love to eat. If you love to eat eventually you love to cook too.
It’s like A+B=C.
A. Food equals Love.
B. Cooking equals Food.
C. So, Cooking equals Love.
Fine dining is nice. That’s a place for the stars to be seen at. Not really my style. Southfield people keep it real. So casual dining is our “go to” thing. But “that place” has to be known for “good food” or we stay home. That’s how Jeremy Marc Morton sees it.
I love “Street Food !“
Casual dining is king, but Street Food is even better! It’s fresh and tasty. A bunch of my foodie friends and I scaly about South Florida’s nooks and crannies looking for these gems. Every city has different street food too. So, the Street Food adventure is endless!
I’m preoccupied with thoughts of my next meal. I live to eat. All throughout the day… What to eat next. breakfast, lunch, dinner. Some may see this as an addiction. I see it as my lifestyle choice. Others may say “… I have a weight problem.” Yeah, I have to give that one to them. My answer to them might be “… I’d rather die fat and happy, than thin and hungry!”
Eating alone sucks, sharing is caring (according to the CareBears®), and my FoodieSouthFlorida blog was born. I hope you will enjoy sharing your foodie experiences with me, Jeremy Morton from Michigan, as I share mine with you in my South Florida life. I’ll be your foodie friend. To quote Mister Rogers “…Won’t you be my neighbor (friend)?”
